Not a day goes by when I hear this quote, “I wish I had Kim Kardashian’s talent of not having talent to make money,” but little do they realize how ignorant this quote is.
Kim Kardashian does have a talent - not just looking great in a bikini -- but talent in marketing. In fact, many individuals and businesses can learn a lot from how she has become a marketing genius to generate roughly over $40 million in income annually. Here is how she has done it, and continues to do it.
Kardashian has become a global brand.
When you hear Kim Kardashian, what comes to your mind?
It is someone who is glamorous, yet very authentic in a way that you can relate to. If this were not true, her show would not be on E! for seven straight years and still going strong. So, she is definitely doing something right to perpetuate the Kardashian brand she has built.
Today both individuals and businesses have to realize that they must create their own unique brand to get attention. If you are not branded, you don't exist, at least on social media. And if you are not on social media, then people may not consider your qualification or expertise on anything. In short, you have to build your brand and keep strengthening it every day.
To keep her brand relevant, Kardashian masterfully uses social media to stay in touch with her followers and continues to gain more followers every day.
She uses all media, traditional and social media. She uses her TV show, web site, Facebook, and Twitter to gain more followers such that the traditional media can’t ignore her. She's has essentially become part of the reason why the media makes money selling magazines with her on cover or get huge ratings on entertainment news shows. Just do a search on Google and you will be amazed of how many magazine covers this woman has appeared on. I lost count.
She has become irresistible for those who want to make money selling magazines, or just about anything, and it definitely does not hurt her pocketbook either. You know she has lost her marketing touch when you scan across a magazine rack at an airport book store and there is not one magazine, with Kim Kardashian on the cover, staring back at you. That day is still very far away based on her marketing prowess.
It is not enough to only create a brand and use social and traditional media tools. To succeed the way she has, you have to keep it fresh so your followers don’t dare to ignore you.
She is always doing something new whether it's promoting a product, making appearances, or changing her personal life. People want to know what she is doing because they are either bored or just want to be accepted for being just as cool as she is.
What does this all result in? Try $40 million a year. Now you know her talent. Don’t decry it, learn from it.
